BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) wrapped up its 2019 Indoor Track and Field season last weekend and put the finishing touches on another tremendous season and record-breaking conference meet with the announcement of its annual Women's Indoor Track and Field awards on Thursday.

Macalester senior Phoebe Aguiar ran away with the Outstanding Track Athlete and Performance of the Meet awards, while St. Thomas first-year thrower Megan Gehrke was selected the conference's Outstanding Field Athlete. Hamline coach Shawn Johnson-Hipp was recognized by her peers as the Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

There was no doubt in any of the coaches' minds as to which competitor was most deserving of Outstanding Track Athlete honors, as Aguiar (Sr. | Prairie Village, Kan. | Shawnee Mission East) was a unanimous selection to win the award. The Macalester senior was also a shoo-in for Performance of the Meet with her record-breaking victories in the 600-meter run and 800-meter run finishing first and second in the balloting, respectively. Aguiar blazed her way to a MIAC record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:31.68, breaking Megan Daymont's 16-year-old meet and MIAC mark of 1:33.98, set in 2003. Aguiar also broke the meet record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.67 last Friday.

Gehrke (Fy. | Faribault, Minn.) was named Outstanding Field Athlete after picking up two All-Conference honors in her MIAC Championship debut. The first-year thrower won the conference title in the shot put with a throw of 13.38 meters in finals and ended up third in the weight throw with a finals distance of 15.03 meters. Gehrke is the first Tommie to win Outstanding Field Athlete honors at the MIAC Women's Indoor Championships since Carol Comp - who competed in the same events - in 2008.

Johnson-Hipp was recognized as the Women's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year after guiding the Pipers to a program-record 113.5 points and a second-place finish at the 2019 Championships. Hamline landed nine performers on the Women's All-Conference squad this year, with three individual conference championships.

In addition to the top individual award-winners, the MIAC recognized the 2019 Women's Indoor Track and Field All-MIAC Sportsmanship team. Also listed below are the 2019 MIAC Women's Indoor Track and Field All-Conference individuals and relay teams. The top three finishers in each individual event and each first-place relay team received All-MIAC honors. Individuals that finished 4-6 and relay teams that finished 2-6 received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and can be found in the final results.
