Saturday's playoff championship game will be the fifth postseason meeting between the Auggies and Tommies in the last six years. The two teams traded semifinal victories in 2014 and 2015 before meeting in the 2016 MIAC Playoff Championship, which saw the Auggies come away with a 1-0 win. They met again in last year's Playoff Championship, which resulted in a 3-1 St. Thomas victory. Augsburg edged St. Thomas, 1-0, in the 2019 regular season matchup on September 25.

St. Thomas scored once in the first half and twice in the second while holding No. 6 Bethel without a shot on Wednesday to advance to the MIAC Playoff Championship game for the fourth time in the last five seasons. Paige Cater scored unassisted in the 31st minute to give the Tommies a 1-0 advantage heading into the break. Kate Heimer and Paola Del Moral scored within seven minutes of each other in the second half to secure the victory. Bethel goalkeeper Kaylee Peterson faced 10 shots on goal, stopping seven in the game. The win was the eighth in a row for the Tommies, who have now extended their home unbeaten streak to 24 and season unbeaten streak to 12.

Augsburg will host the 2019 MIAC Women's Soccer Playoff Championship game after defeating No. 4 Saint Benedict, 5-1, on Wednesday night in Minneapolis. Five different Auggies figured in the scoring, with forward Gabriela Encarnacion getting the action started at 5:45 in the first on an unassisted goal. Saint Benedict's Roxy Veldman answered less than five minutes later with her third goal of the postseason to even the score at 1-1. However, it would be all Augsburg from that point forward, with Ashley St. AubinAna Ortiz, and Jen Masello all tallying goals before Encarnacion punctuated the victory with her second goal of the night. St. Aubin's goal at 23:27 in the first half was the 69th of her Augsburg career, tying her with former Macalester standout Jenny Scanlon (1991-94) for the most career goals by a MIAC women's soccer player in history. She also had a pair of assists in the win.

No. 1 Augsburg and No. 2 St. Thomas will meet on Saturday, November 9, in the 2019 MIAC Women's Soccer Playoff Championship game. The game is tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The MIAC Playoff champion will receive the postseason championship plaque and the conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament.
