Saint John's junior Kevin Arthur was selected as the Outstanding Track Athlete while teammate Maguire Petersen received Outstanding Field Athlete honors. Bethel senior Joel Smith's victory in the 400-meter hurdles earned him Performance of the Meet honors, while SJU head coach Jeremy Karger-Gatzow was selected as the MIAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year.

Arthur (Jr. | Champlin, Minn. | Champlin Park) picked up individual MIAC championships in the 100- and 200-meter dashes at last weekend's MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship, making him the first Johnnie since 1982 to win both events in the same meet. The Champlin Park grad also ran the second leg on SJU's first-place 4x100-meter relay team. Arthur is the first Johnnie since Chris Erichsen in 2008 to be named Outstanding Track Athlete for MIAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field.

Petersen (Jr. | Hutchinson, Minn.) won his second straight MIAC championship in the decathlon two weeks ago during the multi-event portion of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Hutchinson, Minn. native won the 18-competitor event with 6,677 points, good for a 54-point margin of victory and the fifth-best score in NCAA Division III this season. Petersen is the first Johnnie to win MIAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year since Eric Buss in 2009. Petersen also won MIAC Outstanding Field Athlete honors for Indoor Track & Field in 2022.

Smith (Sr. | Shoreview, Minn. | Mounds View) won his second consecutive MIAC title in the 400-meter hurdles last weekend. The Mounds View alumnus won the race in 52.32, the second-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. Smith is the first Bethel recipient of Performance of the Meet honors since Carl Klamm in 2018.

Karger-Gatzow guided the Johnnies to their 13th MIAC Outdoor Track & Field championship in 2022. Under his guidance, SJU won its first outdoor title since 2011 and racked up 16 All-Conference slots to go along with eight individual or relay MIAC titles this season. This is Karger-Gatzow's third MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year honor in seven seasons at Saint John's, having previously won the award in 2016 and 2019.

In addition to the top individual award winners, conference coaches also recognized the 2022 Men's Outdoor Track & Field All-MIAC Sportsmanship team, as well as the 2022 All-Conference individuals and relay teams.
