Despite challenges caused by the pandemic, the Macalester College football coaching staff is as excited as ever for this year's class of incoming talent as the Scots prepare to return to the MIAC this fall.
Earlier this week, KiJuan Ware became the 29th head football coach at Macalester when he was named interim head coach. Ware served as the Scots' offensive coordinator the past two years after arriving in St. Paul in the summer of 2019. He has over 20 years of college coaching experience across all three divisions. Ten of those years came at Division I programs such as Dartmouth, Georgetown, Miami (Ohio) and Notre Dame. Ware also coached at Williams College, Shorter and Shippensburg, where he was the recruiting coordinator and running backs/tight ends coach prior to coming to Macalester.
Macalester College junior defender Will Orser (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial) was named to the Division III Men's Soccer Academic All-District 6 team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the organization announced today. Orser is now a candidate for Academic All-American honors.
Macalester College sophomore Eleanor Michaud (Long Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) was named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Division III All-American first team, the ACWPC announced today. Junior Annika Krueger (Emerald Hills, Calif./Sequoia) and first year Laurel O'Hare (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) received All-American honorable mention.
Macalester College first year Arista Siebrits (Frisco, Texas/Laurel Springs) completed an outstanding first collegiate season of competition with a loss in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships Friday morning at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
