Mary Wenisch is a junior defensive specialist on the College of Saint Benedict volleyball team. She was second on the team with a career-best 351 digs as a sophomore in 2019, and recorded a career-best 20 digs in a win over Bethel. Wenisch, who earned Academic All-MIAC honors in 2019-20, appeared in 116 sets and played a key role in the Bennies' run to the 2019 Elite Eight.
ST. JOSEPH, Minn. – After an impressive start to a shortened 2019-20 season, the College of Saint Benedict tennis team has a pair of seniors back to take over as captains to lead the team in 2020-21. Kayla McIver and Mackenzie Schurhamer both enter their fourth seasons with the CSB tennis program in 2020-21, and both have had solid careers for the Bennies. McIver was named the team MVP as a first year, and went 8-4 in 12 singles matches before the 2020 season was cut short. Schurhamer was abroad in the fall semester, but went 3-0 in doubles play when she returned in the spring, including a win at No. 3 doubles to help the team upset St. Thomas.
After making her way into third in indoor 400 history in 2009, Jillian Daleiden set the outdoor 400 record in 2011 when she won the MIAC title by more than one second with a time of 57.26 seconds. That best the old record – which had stood for 15 years – by three-tenths of a second. Patti Clintsman – an outstanding sprinter for the Bennies – holds the indoor record after running a time of 59.08 seconds as a senior in 2006.
Mia Sabin is a sophomore diver on the College of Saint Benedict swim and dive team. As a first year in 2019-20, she qualified for the MIAC Championships on both the one- and three-meter boards, and finished seventh in the one-meter competition and 10th in the three-meter competition. As a first year, she added her name to the team record books in four categories, including the fifth-best three-meter, six-dive score in program history.
The College of Saint Benedict golf team may have a small roster this year, but it is a roster full of experience - and features two captains with plenty of MIAC golf experience under their belts. Seniors Bridget Amundson and Emily Olson step into the captain role this year in their fourth and final seasons with the programs.
