ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Dan Schofer has added former Hamline All-American Gabrielle Brown to his coaching staff as a full-time assistant coach. Brown spent the 2019-20 year as a graduate assistant for the track & field program at the University of Jamestown (N.D.).

Brown, who will coach the sprints and hurdles for both the men's and women's track & field teams, joins Karly Brautigam as full-time assistant coaches under Schofer, who oversees the Scots' track and cross country programs.

During her time at Jamestown, Brown assisted head coach Megan Kuehl in all aspects of the track & field program, including practice implementation, meet preparation and recruiting. She also managed the Jimmies' social media accounts. Brown has been an AAU track coach for the past three years, including the past two with Track Minnesota Elite.

A three-time All-American at Hamline, Brown holds the school records in both the 60-meter hurdles indoors and the 100-meter hurdles outdoors, and helped the Pipers set the school record in the 4x100-meter relay. As a senior, she placed eighth at the national indoor meet in the 60-meter hurdles before closing out her illustrious career with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a personal-best time of 14.06. Brown also was sixth in the 100 hurdles at the 2018 national outdoor meet.

In addition to her All-American honors, Brown won six MIAC titles and was named the Outstanding Track Athlete at the 2019 MIAC Outdoor Championships.

"We are excited to have Gabrielle join our coaching staff," Schofer said. "She has a strong track and field background with great local and MIAC connections, and she really connected with our student-athletes during the interview process. Gabrielle will be an asset to our program, and I look forward to the help she will provide our team in terms of coaching, recruiting, and leadership."

A native of St. Paul, Brown starred for St. Paul Johnson High School, where she won a Section 4AA title in the 100-meter hurdles and qualified for the state meet in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles as a senior.

Brown graduated from Hamline in 2019 with a degree in communication and education, along with a certification in conflict studies. She is pursuing a Master's of Leadership at Jamestown. Brown currently resides in Minneapolis.
